Get into the woods and count birds for the Garden Valley Christmas Bird Count.
The Garden Valley CBC will take place Wednesday, December 18. Anyone wishing to participate should contact Louisa Evers (elouisa603@gmail.com).
Zones will be assigned in advance and participants will know what their zone is and who they will be with. We will meet at Wild Bill's in Crouch at 9 am so everyone can get with their partners and receive magnetic placards for their vehicles. The placards are important so that residents of Garden Valley know why vehicles are driving so slow and people are looking towards their house with binoculars.
Participants will record all their sightings using eBird. Louisa will set up a Trip Report in advance and invite all participants to join.
Thanks to efforts by Sheri Foote, a Garden Valley resident, the owners of South Fork Landing were contacted and gave permission for 1-2 vehicles to count in that subdivision. Otherwise there is no public access allowed except on a trail along the river.
We will meet in the afternoon at the Garden Valley Library in Crouch to turn in effort information and go over the species seen. Everyone will depart by 3 pm in order to get home, or mostly home, before sunset.
